The Printmaking Program utilizes up-to-date technologies alongside traditional approaches. This program is designed to explore the traditional techniques of the monoprint, collograph, etching, woodcut and linocut processes. After the fundamentals are learned, students are encouraged to approach printmaking in a variety of ways, which may include the production of single or multiple prints, incorporation of text, computer aided design, sculptural applications and use of handmade paper. Bookmaking is a vital component of this program because it offers the possibilities of integrating the printed image with text and addresses numerous structural formats. Lectures and discussions describing historic and contemporary art practices are provided to support the student's studio work.
